Traffic Expected To Be Light For Shuttle Launch

Motorists and other sightseers heading to the beach side and causeways to find a good spot to watch today's space shuttle Atlantis launch could find traffic lighter than usual, officials say "We do not expect a whole lot of traffic" Because the launch is taking place during the week, "said Kim Montes with the Florida Highway Patrol.

"Today, you have a lot of people at work and in school."

Florida Highway Patrol troopers and other local law enforcement officers will be monitoring traffic as the 2:28 pm launch window approaches.

Motorists can still expect heavy congestion on the county's causeways along portions of State Road A1A before and after any launch.
