Serial Blasts Rock Assam; Five Killed 30 Injured


Guwahati: Five people were killed and 30 others injured when three bombs exploded outside a police station in Assam's Nalbari district on Saturday, Indian private channel quoted.

The bombs were reportedly kept on a parked bicycle and it exploded between 1000-1015 hrs IST, an official said.

Meanwhile, a third blast took place in Gopal Bazar area, not far from the location of the first blast.

The third blast comes five minutes of the first blast.

Police suspect that militants of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) carried out the explosion.

The injured have been rushed to the hospital. Police say there is a sense of panic and tension in the city.

Nalbari district is about 70 km west of Assam's main city of Guwahati.

Assam Police have disclosed the names of nine militants who are planning to carry out a series of blasts.
