Texas Earns Trip To Big 12 Title Game With Win Over Kansas


The nation's third-ranked team took a slight pause to enjoy the journey Saturday night, with a 51-20 victory over Kansas.
Colt McCoy claimed the Bowl Subdivision record with his 43rd victory as a starting quarterback. In the process, they helped the Texas Clinch Big 12 South title and positioned himself nicely for the stretch run Heisman.
In his most efficient and impressive performance this season, McCoy completed 32 of 41 passes for 396 yards. McCoy tossed four touchdown passes and avoided an interception, something that had Plagued him earlier in the season.
McCoy and the other senior offensive starters were Lifted with 5:52 remaining, receiving an OVATION from the record crowd at Royal-Memorial Stadium.
The defensive starters followed three minutes later.
The Longhorns wrapped up their spot in the Big 12 title game, where they will face Nebraska, Which clinched the North with a 17-3 win over Kansas State.
As he was interviewed by ABC on the field after the game, Texas fans chanted "Colt for Heisman." They returned the favor, high-fiving fans in his senior lap around the stadium and firing the cannon that usually notes Texas touchdowns.
Others joined the party with McCoy.
Sixth-year senior Jordan Shipley caught 10 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.
Sophomore safety Earl Thomas Tied a school record with his seventh interception.
With the win, the Roadmap to Pasadena and a chance at the school's second national title in five years has CRYSTALLIZED.
